Mt. Erie General PTA
Meeting Minutes
May 19, 2009
CALL TO ORDER: The Mt. Erie general membership meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by President Suzy Gilbert. Sign in sheet is attached. A quorum was present.
MINUTES: The minutes of the March 17, 2009 General PTA meeting were approved as corrected.
TREASURERS REPORT: Holly Goss reported that $1,500 has not been used by teachers for the field trip/project grant. Mr. Knorr suggested that the money be donated to the school district and it will be put in a Mt. Erie fund for field trips
PRINCIPALS REPORT: Bob Knorr reported that the 6th grade leadership group is working on establishing a cell phone policy that will be in the Mt. Erie handbook for 2009-2010. In 6th grade, 90% have cell phones.
Also discussed the importance of volunteers filling out volunteer sheet/application.
FAMILY NIGHTS: Patty reported that Family nights are wrapping up. Volunteers are needed for Family nights next year and it was suggested that a different parent be responsible for each family night.
NEW BUSINESS:
Election of 2009-1010 Officers: Carey South presented the nomination for the 2002-2010 PTA Board.
President – Suzy Gilbert
Vice-President – Catherin Houck
Treasurer – Joan Ockerman and Meg Frost
Secretary – Ashley King
These officers will assume duties effective July 1, 2009.
CLOTHING DRIVE – Suzy is coordinating a clothing drive to take place prior to the end of school.
COMMITTEE RECRUITMENT– The following positions open for next year:
RIF (K-2nd), Family Nights, Yearbook, Box Tops, and Health Screening.
If you are interested in any of the above positions or know someone who may be interested, please contact the PTA.
Suzy thanked everyone for all the volunteering that was done this past school year. We did a lot for our school and students!
Lara Young won the $40 Shop Anacortes gift certificate.
Suzy Gilbert adjourned the meeting at 8:15.
