We need your help to make the Halloween Spooktacular Auction a success!!!

August 29, 2011

Do you have a special talent or vacation home or side business that you could donate to the auction? We are happy to accept any and all donations, large and small, to support our goal of raising $23,000 this year (that’s just $55 per child!!).

Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:

  • Are you an artist? Do you make pottery or jewelry? Idea: donate some items for auction!
  • Do you have a boat? Idea: donate a day of fishing for a family of 4 for a day!
  • Are you a great cook with a special talent? Idea: donate a dessert of the month for 6 months!
  • Does your family have a cabin in the woods somewhere? Idea: donate a week at your family’s cabin!

Also, we are looking for volunteers for this year’s event:

  • 2-3 people to sell tickets before and after school – time commitment 2-3 hours per week for 2 weeks (or until tickets sell out!)
  • 1-2 people to work registration and checkout the night of the event – 1-2 hours
  • 1-2 people to write thank you notes after the event for volunteers and donors – 3-4 hours and can be done from home
  • Decorating for the auction

If you can make a donation OR want to volunteer in some way OR have questions, please contact Suzy Gilbert at suzygilbert@gmail.com or 360-588-8380

Sign up for Fall Fundraiser

April 27, 2011

Planning is underway for the fall Auction and we want your input and help! Last year’s fundraiser brought in over $17,000 for the PTA to fund programs such as Family Nights, Missoula Children’s Theatre, the Winter Reading Program, field trips, Watch DOGS, and teacher grants just to name a few. In order to continue these programs
as well as add new ones in 2011-2012, we need your help to coordinate our Fall Fundraiser.  If you have a few hours to spare, you can help! Most of the tasks can be completed from the comfort of your own home! If you are interested, please contact Suzy Gilbert, Fundraising Chair, at 588-8380 or email suzygilbert@gmail.com to learn more about how you can pitch in!

Auction/Fundraising Recap

October 2, 2010

Just sit right back
And you’ll hear a tale
A tale of a triumphant trip
That started from our local port,
Aboard a fancy ship.
The mate was a mighty sailin’man,
The Skipper brave and sure,
Over 80 passengers set sail that day,
For a three hour tour,
A three hour tour.

The weather was incredible,
No rain nor wind nor hail.
If not the courage of the fearless passengers
PTA funding would be scant.
PTA funding would be scant.

The ship returned to our fair shore
With guests clutching with glee…
A painting,
And flipper too.
Trips to Disneyland
And SeaLife,
The spa treatment,
The kayak trip and Camerons,
Here on our little cruise.

By all measures, our fundraising cruise and auction was a great success.   Passengers enjoyed scrumptious food, relaxing massages, and incredible weather.  Many guests created a lively and prosperous auction.  Through ticket sales, auction items, massage tips and the bar, we brought in over $17,000.  This is a wonderful accomplishment.  Last year our main fundraiser (Sally Foster sales) brought in $7200 (and we went in the red by $4000).  We were able to achieve such success because all the proceeds from everything (ticket sales, auction items, massage tips, and bar tab) went directly to Mt. Erie PTA.  The cruise (boat, gas, crew, set-up, clean-up) as well as all the food and most drinks were donated by the owners of Island Adventures and Fidalgo Care Center.

The best news—we will not be hounding you for more money in the near future!  We will still be relying on monies generated by the Escrip program with enrolled Safeway club cards, t-shirt sales, AND boxtops to complement our budgetary needs.   (So, please continue to save those boxtops.)

This year’s PTA budget is very trim, especially compared to our budget from previous years and compared to other local elementary schools.   We hope to increase some items in the budget with these additional funds.  Please be a part of these decisions by coming to the next general membership meeting in November, sending an email to our gmail account, writing a letter, talking with someone on the PTA Board of Directors.  Also, feel free to give feedback on the cruise/auction and suggestions for future fundraisers!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s main fundraiser a FUN and SUCCESSFUL venture! Onwards to the pumpkin patch!

Happy Fall!!

A Special Thank You to Individuals and Businesses Who Helped Fund the Mt. Erie PTA (as of 9/28/10)!
