Pinocchio Auditions! Monday March 7th 3:45-5:45pm
February 16, 2011An audition will be held for the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) production of Pinocchio Monday, March 7 in the Mt. Erie gym.
Anyone interested in auditioning should be there immediately after school and plan to stay for the full two hours. Also some of the older cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition. Roles to be cast include Pinocchio, the Blue Fairy, Jiminy Cricket, the Fox and Cat, Candlewick and Crew, Urchins, School Kids, Puppets, and Toys. Students in all grades are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant Directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. 50-60 children will be cast. If cast, the cost is $20 per child. Some scholarships are available; see Mrs. Stacey Estenson.
MCT touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props, and makeup. MCT Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week after school each day. Pinocchio will be presented in the gym 7pm on Friday March 11th and 2pm on Saturday March 12th. For more information, contact Silja Shjarback at 588-0866 or shjaresa@fidaglo.net.
Missoula Children’s Theatre Update
February 5, 2011Mark your calendars: the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) rendition of Pinocchio is coming to Mt. Erie. Children who want to perform must be available every day after school the week of 7-11 March in order to participate.
This year, Thursday and Friday are early release days so rehearsals on those days will be in the after-noon. Performances will be held on Friday evening March 11th and there will be a matinee on Saturday March 12th (exact times still TBD).
MCT auditions will be held after school on March 7th and all ages are welcome. Details will be sent home at the end of February. If you have any questions, contact co-coordinators Silja Shjarback (shjaresa@fidalgo.net) or Ashley King (ashleydk@gmail.com).
Volunteers needed to host Missoula Children’s Theatre directors
January 13, 2011We are in need of one or two volunteer homes to house our two Missoula Children’s Theatre directors for the week of March 6th. They are very self sufficient and appreciative. Each room must allow privacy and one must be a cat-free home. Please contact Silja Shjarback at 588-0866 or shjaresa@fidalgo.net as soon as possible if you are interested.
The MCT directors are great guests and a lot of fun for your children. The PTA will provide one main meal per day for them while they are at the school and your child’s MCT fee will be waived if you host a director. If we cannot find a volunteer home, we have to fund a hotel stay which depletes funds which would otherwise go to student enrich-ment activities. Please lend a hand!
Missoula Children’s Theater Update!
March 22, 2010Princess and the Pea Practices Produce Priceless Performances
Missoula Children’s Theatre was at Mt. Erie March 8-13th producing The Princess and the Pea. Over 70 wonderful kids came for the audition and 52 were cast. You are all awesome for taking a risk and auditioning. If you didn’t make it this year, try again next time! A big thank you to all the wonderful parents who helped keep children waiting to go on stage quiet and calm, and those who stayed after the show to take down chairs and the set. We appreciate each and every one of you! Thank you to the Thomas family for hosting the tour directors in their home for the week. They had a very comfortable stay in Anacortes!

Missoula Children’s Theater
February 24, 2010Missoula Children’s Theater’s THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA
Envision a kingdom of snow where the residents are Winter Wind Workers, Blizzard Bringers, Icicle Sharpeners and Snow Smoothers, ruled by the Storm King and the Snow Queen. Add to that a Prince looking for a proper Princess to share the throne. Now imagine the Princess and her friend the Pea living in a kingdom of green rolling hills and running rivers with her subjects, The Flower Gardeners, River Runners, Green Shoot Growers and Tree Barkers. Her parents, King Size and Queen Size, do all they can to keep things running smoothly. Who knows, maybe the dancing Dust Bunnies can help? Although the two kingdoms think they have nothing in common, (except maybe a pesky Jack Frost that freezes anything and everything), the peace-loving Leprechauns prove otherwise. Throw in some Phony Princesses and you have a real fiasco! This ain’t your grandma’s PRINCESS AND THE PEA. We think you will enjoy its twists and turns.
Get your smiling faces and loud voices ready for AUDITIONS on Monday March 8th at 3:40pm in the gym. Bring a snack for after school. 60 children will be chosen to participate; they must be available for rehearsals all week to be able to participate. Typically younger ages are not called back until Wednesday from 3:45-5:45, other children must be available the entire week from 3:45-8:15 (though all cast members may not need to be present the entire time, their schedules must be free). Performances will be Friday March 12 7pm and Saturday March 13 2pm in the Mt. Erie gym.
Parents are required to be present to pick children up after auditions at 5:45, pay the $20 participation fee if your child is cast and pick up the rehearsal schedule for the week. Some cast members will be staying for rehearsal afterwards and will need a sack dinner.
