Please Read This! Our Future Could Depend On YOU!

Dear PTA & PTSA Presidents,

I am a fellow Anacortes School District parent and PTA and League of Education Voters member.  I am also very passionate about the future of education in the state of Washington.

As you may have already heard, after this week’s PTA Day in Olympia it has become quite clear that the future of education reform is in jeopardy and more cuts to education are quite possible.  The legislator’s budget is scheduled to be reviewed in less than two weeks.  With the elimination of the Basic Education Task Force and Full Funding Coalition bills and the Intent bill hanging on by a thread, there is only some hope that any real reform will happen this year.

Our state legislators made it quite clear to the parents who braved the roads on Thursday to meet with them that only 10% of the letters/emails they receive regarding education come from parents; the rest are received from organizations representing specific agendas, many of which conflict with each other.   We represent our kids and what is best for them; we need to demand our legislators find a compromise among all parties, stop digging further into the pockets of education and move education reform forward.   We need to be heard.

Our legislators need and want to hear from us. We need to act now. We can make a difference.
