Have we got a job for you! The following board positions are available–we’d love to have you join us:
Fundraising Chair–this position is a perfect jumping off point for someone wanting to get involved but not have too much to do yet as our one big fundraiser of the year is already completed! You would oversee the other fundraising opportunities such as eScrip and box tops, and be involved in any future fundraising decisions and planning.
Legislative Chair–if you are passionate about the political process and how it applies to our children in schools then this is the job for you. In this position you keep the rest of the board and PTA membership informed about what is happening in Olympia and Washington D.C. in terms of education and call us to action as needed.
Board position not interesting to you? We still have needs for volunteers in the following areas:
Watch D.O.G.S.–Fathers only! We need up to 10 dads to assist in the planning and execution of the kickoff pizza night as well as spread the word about this great new national program coming to Mt. Erie. This shouldn’t be too time-consuming and it’s a great opportunity to meet some other cool dads. We are planning to start Watch D.O.G.S. in the fall with another event in late winter.
Reading Is Fundamental (RIF)–This happens only three times a year. If you have an hour to spare and a favorite child’s book to share, this is a perfect fit for you. Read your favorite book to a class of K-3 graders and help them choose a free book to take home
Family Nights–We can always use more volunteers with this program to help set up, clean up, or assist Suzy Gilbert in whatever she needs for a family night. You’ll get on the list and can choose which to help with. Very flexible!
Treasurer in Training–Do you have an accounting background? Love numbers? See PTA treasurer in your future? Then this is a great starting position. You’ll be assisting Joan Ockerman this year as she educates you on the simple program we use for our finances. Then you’re all set to become our Treasurer next year!
Library–We don’t have a full-time librarian, so the library para-eds can use your help to check out books, shelve books, etc. You may be able to sign up for the time your child is in the library! You can choose to come in every week, or twice a month, or even once a month… Whatever you have time for, they will be very grateful!
Reflections–Do you love the arts and want to inspire kids to enter the Reflections Art program? This would be a great committee for you. This position occurs in the fall as the deadline for submissions is in December.
Discovery Science Detectives–our science enrichment program for K-3. If you like projects, experiments, or simply turning on kids’ minds to the wonders of anything related to science then we’d love to have you teach one or more of our Discovery Science Detective classes. Must be available Wednesday mornings 9 to 9:30 am. We have plenty of resources for you and you don’t need to come up with a theme or topic on your own!
